What Is a Detox?
A detox is a short-term program of eating and drinking that aims to flush out toxins. The average person has thousands of chemicals in his or her body, and during a detox diet, you help your body get rid of these chemicals by changing your diet.
When Do You Need to Detox?
Your body is full of toxins even if you don’t feel it. Toxins enter your body every single day from numerous sources: air pollution, water pollution, smoke, alcohol and processed foods. Your liver works hard to filter all these harmful compounds, but even the best system can get overwhelmed if you are not careful about what you put in your body.
Toxins build up over time as you age, but they can also increase as a reaction to an illness or chronic stress. That’s why cleansing can be an important part of your health maintenance routine. Different diets cater to different needs. Some get rid of excess fats while others rejuvenate the skin and boost energy levels. Once you’ve decided what type of cleansing will work best for you, make sure to prepare yourself mentally and physically before starting because some detox diets may be more difficult than others
What If I’m Hungry?
Prepare plenty of food ahead of time and you’ll be less likely to feel desperate and go for whatever’s in the cupboard. Cook double and triple recipes if that feels good to you. Find snack foods you like and stock up with Organic Shoppe.
Can I Work Out When I’m Cleansing?
We don’t recommend it but as long as you feel up to it! Be sure to stay hydrated and to take in enough calories and electrolytes. Vegetables are naturally high in potassium, magnesium, and calcium. For sodium, use salt in moderation as works best for you.
