Healthy Meal Recipe: Beet Citrus
Beets are a powerhouse of nutrition. They are an excellent source of folate, potassium, and manganese, and a great source of fibre, vitamin C, and B vitamins. Beets are also one of the best sources of betaine, which helps fight inflammation.
Because beets contain a high level of natural sugars (used to store energy in their roots), it’s important to buy organic beets and thoroughly wash their skins before eating. This process should remove all traces of dirt and pesticides that may be present on the surface.
The betaine in beets supports healthy liver function by helping the liver process toxins more efficiently and produce lecithin for fat metabolism. The high levels of antioxidants also help protect liver cells from oxidative damage, reduce inflammation, and improve detoxification. A glass of beet juice can provide you with enough energy to get through your workouts or even power your runs. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that athletes who drank beet juice prior to exercise were able to exercise up to 16% longer. This is because nitrates increase stamina by helping muscles use oxygen more efficiently.

- Beetroot – 4 medium balls
- Ginger – 1 finger
- Lemon juice – 1 TBSP
- Carrot – 1 Finger

- Wash and Clean all the fruit properly or use our fruit wash
- Blend all the fruits together using a blender or a fruit extractor if you are using a blender, make sure to shift the juice from the shaft.
- Add 200g Pineapple and 1 Apple – Follow the same process as the juice – you do not need to shift.
