Elemi EO is obtained from steam distillation of the resinous gum of Canarium luzonicum, a tropical dioecious tree or shrub found in The Philippines, where it is believed to have originated, it is also found in South and Central America, Australia, Brazil, India, the Malay Peninsula, and Moluccas.
Elemi Essential Oil has been used for hundreds of years in salves for the skin and is a cousin to both Frankincense and Myrrh as they are all from the same botanical family. The word “Elemi” is an Arabic phrase meaning “above and below”, believed to mean “As it is above, so it is below” which hints at the spiritual connotation of this amazing EO.
